Matt Kleine, Rob Cerfolio Candidates In Athletics’ GM Search

The Athletics are searching for a new general manager after firing David Forst in August, with Matt Kleine of the Brewers and Rob Cerfolio of the Cardinals among the candidates being considered. Cerfolio has already interviewed with Oakland but is expected to remain with St. Louis, where he may be promoted to general manager under president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom. Kleine has spent nearly two decades with the Brewers, most recently as assistant general manager since November 2023, and has also drawn interest from the Astros' front office search. The A's have also connected several other candidates to the opening, including James Click, Mike Rizzo, and others, while Derek Falvey declined an interview before joining the Mets.
